Shelter Series: Farm Office Wall Systems

The farm office was built using light straw clay and slip chip techniques. In continuation with the Shelter Series: Timber and Round pole Framing, the east and west walls were built with latter truss framing in preparation for light straw clay. Meanwhile, lathe was attached to the north and south wall for slip chip. Erica Ann from DayOne Design lead us during insulation week and we were able to test the new straw clay mixing machine, nicknamed “the worm”. Having experience mixing by hand, it was definitely a time saver! Wooden tampers were carved and tamping began. Slip Chip is an overall fast, effective technique.
